There are many things you can do to attract wildlife to your garden or backyard areas. Hanging bird feeders are a great way to attract birds and add some character to your backyard area. We have many fun and playful birdhouse like the "Beachshack" shown to the left. Check them out. You can always plant native plants to attract butterflies, and leave plant stalks all winter so birds can gather seeds from them.
To attract birds that feeds on pesky critters, collect dead tree branches, shorten them, and stick them in a patio pot that is still filled with dirt but has its plant materials cleaned out for the winter months. Birds perch on the branches and dive down to pick off beetles and worms crawling on the leaves of healthy plants.

Each spring and early summer, you and your kids can go searching for frogs and toads. Take them to different parts of your garden and set them down under plants. It's a great way to get rid of the bugs but also fun to go collecting. Some toads will hop away immediately but others will stay.

Be sure and make food available during the winter months. Scatter corncobs around and plant fruit trees for bird treats. You want a garden that will attract butterflies, bats, ladybugs and frogs, so placing homes for these animals will bring them in. You can even add some fish in a large Poly Resin Pot, since most come without a drain hole.
